RANAU: Oct 27, 2026 — For the first time, a group of rural pupils in Ranau had the opportunity to pronounce English words confidently in front of their peers, thanks to a fun and interactive learning approach.
A total of 75 primary school pupils took part in the three-day corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme “Word Wizards: From Sounds to Stories” at SK Tungou from 13 to 15 October.

The programme focused on strengthening basic literacy skills, building self-confidence and sparking creativity among rural pupils.
Participants from SK Tungou and six nearby schools were exposed to interactive learning methods through phonics activities, language games and group challenges to help them master English.
The programme also included a Book Donation Campaign with contributions from CEFL HQ, National Geographic Learning and the CEFL Kota Kinabalu community, providing additional reading materials for pupils outside the classroom.
The programme, jointly organised by CEFL Headquarters, CEFL Kota Kinabalu, SK Tungou and the Ranau District Education Office (PPD Ranau), was held in conjunction with CEFL’s 25th anniversary. The closing ceremony was officiated by PPD Ranau School Liaison Officer Marcel Michael Iging.
