PENAMPANG: August 11, 2026 – Police have arrested three men, aged between 17 and 21, suspected of involvement in a motorcycle theft case in the Penampang district during an operation conducted on 10 August.
Penampang District Police Chief, Superintendent Sammy bin Newton, said the operation also led to the seizure of a motorcycle believed to be linked to stolen property.
“All three suspects, who are locals aged between 17 and 21, were detained by a police team during an operation in the Penampang district on 10 August 2026,” he said.
According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for the offence of stealing a motor vehicle. If convicted, offenders face imprisonment of between one and seven years, as well as a fine.
Police will continue to intensify efforts to detect and curb criminal activities, particularly vehicle theft cases, in the Penampang district.
Members of the public are also advised to remain vigilant of their surroundings and to immediately channel information to the police if they come across any suspicious individuals, vehicles, or activities.
