BERTAM: Sept 12, 2026 – The Telupid District Council (MDTelupid) recorded a proud achievement after being named recipient of the 2026 Best Governance Transformation Award at the 2026 Local Authorities Convention at Bertam Resort, Penang, today.
The recognition follows MDTelupid’s significant performance leap in the local authority governance transformation assessment, with consistent improvements since 2022.In 2022, MDTelupid recorded 58.06 per cent with a two-star rating before raising its performance to 73.13 per cent with a three-star rating in 2024.
However, the most notable improvement came this year when MDTelupid scored 92.07 per cent and a five-star rating, jumping two stars from the 2024 assessment.
The performance also drastically changed MDTelupid’s national ranking, from 87th in 2024 to fourth out of 92 district-category local authorities nationwide in 2026.
The leap represented an increase of 18.94 percentage points over two years, besides reflecting MDTelupid’s continuous efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery efficiency to the community.
The achievement places MDTelupid among the top four best-performing district local authorities in the country and is one of the key milestones in the governance transformation agenda.
