LABUAN: August 13, 2026 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Labuan has seized five gallons containing petrol without a permit or written authorisation during the integrated Ops Tiris 4.0 operation in Ujong Pasir.
KPDN Labuan Director Junaidah Arbain said the action was taken following a consumer complaint, prompting a team of enforcement officers to conduct checks at a parking area.
Inspection revealed a locally-registered vehicle left unattended, before five units of gallons containing petrol were discovered.
The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 (Act 122), with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM5,377.
For a first offence, offenders face a fine not exceeding RM1 million, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
In a separate case at a mini market, a trader was found displaying two different price tags on chicken portions offered for sale.
Action was taken under Section 12(1)(a) of the Consumer Protection Act 1999 (Act 599).
If convicted, individuals face a fine of up to RM100,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
