SANDAKAN: Aug 7, 2026 – Several delegates from European countries and the United States took part in the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) Security Briefing and Observation Programme in Sandakan yesterday, aimed at providing an overview of security management in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).
Among the countries participating were Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, the United States, Finland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, as well as representatives from the European Union.

The programme was also attended by Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, State Secretary Datuk Zainuddin Aman, Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Dr. Awang Alik Jeman, and ESSCOM Commander DCP Datuk Victor B. Sanjos.
Throughout the programme, the delegation received briefings from security agencies on security management and the latest developments in ESSZone, before conducting site visits to several strategic locations to observe the implementation of security controls on the ground.
The observation tour provided the foreign delegates with the opportunity to witness first-hand the security measures being implemented on Sabah’s East Coast, thereby reinforcing confidence in the ongoing efforts to ensure ESSZone remains safe and secure.
