KOTA KINABALU: July 20, 2026 – The Sabah government has proposed an allocation of RM86 million under the Supplementary Supply Bill (2026) to fund state government scholarships and various educational assistance programmes for students in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister II, who is also Sabah’s Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, said the additional funds would be channelled to the Chief Minister’s Department and its agencies to ensure the continuation of education initiatives.
He was speaking when tabling the Supplementary Supply Bill (2026) at the Sabah State Legislative Assembly sitting on Monday.
According to Mr Masidi, the initiatives to be funded include the State Government Scholarship, the Higher Education Institution Registration Cash Assistance (BUDI), the Higher Education Student Contribution within Sabah (SENTOSA), the Sabah Student Flight Ticket Subsidy (SUBFLY), and the Sabah School Activities Contribution (SUKSES).
“A total of RM86 million is proposed for the Chief Minister’s Department and its agencies for the State Government Scholarship and various educational aids for Sabah students,” he said.
Mr Masidi said the allocation reflects the state government’s commitment to strengthening human capital development by providing educational assistance to Sabah students at various levels.
He reiterated that the assistance to be continued includes BUDI, SENTOSA, SUBFLY, and SUKSES.
He added that the state government would continue to prioritise educational development to ensure more Sabah students have access to financial aid for higher education and to reduce the burden of educational costs.
