KOTA KINABALU: August 26, 2026 — Sabah FC got their Super League campaign off to a flying start with a commanding 3-1 win over Star City FC at Likas Stadium last night.
The home side broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Dane Ingham found the back of the net from a well-worked pass by Fadzrul Danel.
However, Star City FC responded swiftly, levelling the score just three minutes later as Rafael Vitor rose highest to head home from a corner kick.
Both teams went into the break deadlocked at 1-1.
Sabah FC came out firing in the second half. Import player Park Jungbin thought he had restored the lead in the 67th minute, but his effort was ruled out for offside by the referee.
The home fans erupted with joy when substitute Darren Lok finally broke the deadlock in the 88th minute, slotting home the second goal for Sabah.
Park Jungbin made amends for his earlier disappointment by netting Sabah’s third goal deep into stoppage time, in the 90+4th minute.
The victory gives Sabah FC a valuable three points on home soil to kick off their Super League campaign.
