KOTA KINABALU: Oct 10, 2026 – The media plays a role as a bridge between the government and the people to ensure development policies are understood by the community and the people’s voice is conveyed to the authorities.
Sabah Federal Secretary Mohd Razali Wahab said civil servants must be open to media criticism, convey accurate information and go to the ground to understand the people’s needs, especially in rural areas.
He said this at the Federal-Sabah Media Strategic Networking Night (JASPEM) 2026 at Bankuasi Hall, Sabah State Legislative Assembly, on Thursday.
Razali stressed the SEMAI approach, which comprises Santuni (reach out), Empati (empathy), Muafakat (consensus), Amanah (trust) and Integriti (integrity), as the foundation for building a caring, efficient and trusted civil service.
Ahead of his retirement, he expressed appreciation to civil servants, state government agencies, security forces and Sabah media practitioners for their cooperation throughout his service.
Razali hoped government-media ties would continue to be strengthened. Civil servants must maintain integrity, facilitate public dealings and prioritise community interests.
