AICHI-NAGOYA, JAPAN: Sept 24, 2026 – A Sabah delegation led by Sabah Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister Datuk Haji Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan was present to give support to 23 Sabah athletes representing Malaysia at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
The delegation’s presence provided an opportunity to meet the athletes, check on their well-being and share in the joy of their achievements.
Among those celebrated was Tambunan athlete Adeola Fay Robert, who made history with Malaysia’s first gold medal at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in the Women’s Kumite Under 55 kilogramme event.
Two other Sabah athletes, Mohamad Haznil Henry and Mukhriz Mazlan together with Muhammad Aiqal Asmadie, also contributed bronze through the Men’s Team Kata.
Also with the delegation were KBSK Permanent Secretary Datuk Mansur Haji Asun, Sabah State Sports Council director Mohd Asneh Mohd Noor, Malaysian Contingent Chef de Mission Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan and National Sports Council of Malaysia director-general Jefri Ngadirin.
The Sabah State Government also provided a token of appreciation of RM5,000 to each of the 23 athletes as recognition of their sacrifice and achievements in representing Malaysia from Sabah in nine sports at this edition of the Games.
