MAGDEBURG, Germany: Sept 22, 2026 — The UiTM Chamber Choir (UCC) from the Faculty of Music, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), won four accolades at the 3rd Magdeburg International Choir Festival, held from Sept 16 to 20, 2026 in Germany.
UCC was crowned champion of Category G2 – Youth Choir and received a Gold Diploma Level VIII with 27.79 points, while a Gold Diploma Level IX was secured in the Folklore category with 28.67 points.
In the Equal Voice Choral Music category, the UiTM Women’s Choir, comprising female members of the ensemble, emerged champion and received a Gold Diploma Level VIII with 27.94 points.
The victory was further complemented by The Best & Outstanding Choir Performance in the Festival award from the Choir Association of Saxony-Anhalt, in recognition of UCC’s overall performance throughout the festival.
The UiTM delegation consisted of 25 students led by choir conductor Maryann Magdalena Linnis, and accompanied by the Dean of UiTM’s Faculty of Music, Prof Dr Tazul Izan Tajuddin.
The achievement also marked the 11th consecutive year that UCC has participated in and achieved success in international choir competitions.
Throughout that period, participation on the international stage has given students the opportunity to develop musical skills, performance experience and professionalism, as well as the chance to interact with choirs, conductors and musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The success in Magdeburg continues UCC’s 11-year record in international choir competitions, while showcasing UiTM’s excellence and Malaysian choral music on the world stage.
