KENINGAU: Sept 14, 2026 – Three cosmetology students of Kolej Vokasional (KV) Keningau were selected to receive a RM6,000 grant from My Starfish Foundation on May 17 to carry out the Beyond Beauty community service project.
The grant, under Project for Happiness 2.0, will be used to provide grooming services to senior citizens at the Holy Family Residence for Senior Citizens in Papar.
The team, comprising Catrisya Cymantha Cyril, Aivrillona Alix and Welnieliah Jurin, is the sole representative from Sabah and the only vocational college team selected as a recipient of the grant.
The selection was made through a process of document submission, proposal papers and project presentation to a panel of judges.
Through Beyond Beauty, the students will provide foot nail care, hand nail care and body massage to senior citizens, as well as organise social activities such as karaoke, dancing and photo sessions.
KV Keningau director Lumang anak Lang said the students’ efforts proved that skills learnt at vocational colleges could be used to help the community.
“This shows how vocational college education can empower youths to use their skills to do good for the community.”
The Beyond Beauty project was previously carried out in 2025 through a grant from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Division (BPLTV) of the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Project for Happiness 2.0 is a grant initiative by My Starfish Foundation that offers funding of up to RM10,000 to students of educational institutions in Malaysia to carry out community projects.
My Starfish Foundation is a welfare association that provides funds to Malaysians to carry out community service projects.
