KOTA KINABALU: Sept 19, 2026 — Keningau Vocational College (KV Keningau) student Wester Westin has emerged as champion in the Drawing category at the national-level KV Skills competition held at KV Tengku Ampuan Afzan in Bentong, Pahang, from Sept 10 to 13.
The third-year Construction Technology student defeated nine state champions and took home a certificate, medal and RM500.
Wester, a Dusun from Ranau, was previously the Sabah and Labuan Zone champion in early July. The win repeated the same achievement after he won the category at zone level in 2025.
The competition required participants to use specific techniques and equipment with high precision to complete set visual design specifications. He was crowned champion of the category, which was first contested in 2025.

Second place went to a participant from KV Sultan Abdul Samad, Selangor, while third place went to KV Muar, Johor.
KV Keningau director Lumang anak Lang said: “This success proves that the technical skills learned at vocational colleges have value and can enable our students to compete at national level.”
KV Keningau also took second place in Pastry Making and third place in Cooking, Beauty Therapy and Early Childhood Education, bringing home one gold, one silver and three bronzes.
KV Skills, BPLTV’s annual competition, covers more than 20 fields.
