KOTA KINABALU: June 25, 2026 – The Sabah branch of the Malaysian Immigration Department has detained 91 undocumented migrants during a series of enforcement operations carried out across four districts.
Officers checked a total of 373 individuals in Kota Kinabalu, Kudat, Tawau and Ranau. Those arrested are suspected of various immigration offences, including failing to possess valid travel documents and breaching the conditions of their passes.
Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of detentions, with 46 people arrested out of 151 checked during operations codenamed Ops Selera, Ops Belanja, Ops Serkap, Ops Sapu and Ops Kutip.
In Kudat, nine foreign nationals were detained during an Ops Sapu operation that screened 46 individuals. In Ranau, the same operation resulted in 13 arrests out of 17 inspected.
In Tawau, a joint operation involving the Road Transport Department and the National Anti-Drug Agency inspected 159 individuals and detained 23 foreign nationals.
