TAWAU: Sept 17, 2026 — Police arrested a woman in less than 24 hours after she was involved in a cash theft at a house in Kampung Pangkalan Asli, Merotai Besar.
Tawau district police chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said a report on the incident was lodged at the Bombalai Police Station after the victim was informed by family members that the suspect, who is also the victim’s younger sister, was believed to have taken cash from the victim’s wallet while in the bedroom.
He said the victim noticed the act before a brief scuffle broke out between the victim and the suspect, causing the suspect to flee from the house.
The suspect is also believed to have frequently taken valuable items from the house.
Following swift police action, a team of personnel from the Bombalai Police Station successfully located and arrested the suspect in the compound of the Bombalai Police Station, Tawau.
The suspect, a 41-year-old local woman, has been detained for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code.
