KOTA KINABALU – TV Sabah has sponsored new jerseys for the Storm Breakers Rugby Club in a show of support for the development of rugby in Sabah, providing motivation and raising the players’ spirits as they prepare for upcoming tournaments with greater confidence.
The club, which was only established in April this year, fields two teams – male and female categories – comprising secondary school students.
Despite being newly formed, Storm Breakers are actively training and taking part in various competitions to nurture young talent in the sport.
According to the team’s coach, the jersey sponsorship is not merely about completing playing kit but also serves as a form of recognition that fuels the players’ determination. He stressed that the club’s main objective is not only to win, but also to instil discipline, team spirit and self-confidence among the youth.
Among the players, many have been passionate about rugby since primary school and are now determined to lead the team to success in future tournaments.
Meanwhile, parents have welcomed the club’s efforts, saying that rugby helps instil discipline in their children, improves physical fitness and builds better character.
With continued support from TV Sabah and other parties, Storm Breakers are confident of producing more quality young athletes and advancing the sport of rugby in Sabah.
