NAGOYA: Sept 22, 2026 — National simulation racing ace Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira clinched Malaysia’s second gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games today.
The 27-year-old emerged champion in the Gran Turismo 7 event at Aichi Sky Expo after collecting 36 points overall.
The victory also made Taj Izrin the first Malaysian athlete to win gold in an e-sports event at the Games.
Taj Izrin had previously won the Toyota GR GT Cup Malaysia four consecutive times from 2020 to 2024 and was overall champion of Toyota Gazoo E-Racing 2025.
He has also received guidance from former Malaysian Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong, while being active in real circuit racing through the Vios Cup Series and Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF).
The achievement reinforces Taj Izrin’s standing as one of the country’s simulation racers who also has experience in real circuit racing.
