LAHAD DATU: Aug 26, 2026 – Police have seized 2,000 grammes of suspected syabu with an estimated value of RM94,000 during Op Tapis at the Darvel Bay Plaza car park along Jalan Teratai here yesterday.
The operation also led to the arrest of a 41-year-old local man by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters.
Police inspections discovered an iPhone 14 believed to have been used in drug trafficking activities. Two vehicles, a Proton X50 and a Perodua Axia, were also seized to facilitate investigations.
The suspect is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Initial urine screening tests on the suspect came back negative for drugs.
Further investigations are underway to identify the supply source, modus operandi, and the syndicate network involved.
Lahad Datu District Police Chief Dzulbahrin said the seizure reflects the commitment of the Lahad Datu Narcotics CID in combating drug trafficking.
