KOTA KINABALU: Sept 20, 2026 – Singer Nathalia Athena will present a new work composed by Penampang-born composer Florencius Mojikon.
The work carries a message of perseverance and gratitude in life.
It depicts a person’s journey through daily routines that begin as soon as the sun rises.
The demands of work and managing various activities are part of life, but the work reminds listeners not to worry about the challenges they face.
Instead, listeners are invited to take heart, remain steadfast and always rejoice in life.
The work also carries a message that people should always be grateful for the opportunity given to them to continue living.
Nathalia is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
Her achievements include first place at the World Youth Singing Competition 2025 and the Most Aspiring Talent Award at the Anugerah Bintang Negara 2022.
In 2026, she took first place with B2P Band at the KK Jazz Festival.
Florencius began composing songs at the age of 14 and has produced works in Kadazan, Dusun, Malay and English.
His compositions include Lumangad Oku, Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan, Igitanku Kotumbayaanku, Ina Ku and Nokuro, which are now often sung at events such as Sugandoi and Kaamatan celebrations.
The new work highlights a message close to everyday life, particularly the need to stay strong, be joyful and grateful in facing life’s journey.
