NABAWAN: Aug 21, 2026 — The “Nadi Seni Warisan” programme will be held in Nabawan on Aug 22 to introduce the younger generation to local arts and cultural heritage.
The programme, which falls under the Manifesto Kaamatan 2026, provides a platform for youth to recognise, learn, and try their hand at traditional arts, particularly dances from the Murut and Dusun communities.
This initiative is expected to boost the younger generation’s appreciation for their own identity and heritage, while also opening up opportunities for local youth and artists to develop their talents.
Scheduled to take place at SK Tetagas from 8am to 10pm, the event is expected to draw between 100 and 150 participants, comprising primary and secondary school students, artists, teachers, and community members.
Randawi Tavantang Kaamatan 2026 champion, Dyneley Daud, said “Nadi Seni Warisan” carries the message that the arts and heritage are the lifeblood of a community.
According to him, when arts, language, dance, music, customs, and heritage are no longer recognised by the younger generation, a community’s identity can gradually fade away.
“In our pursuit of progress, we must not lose our own identity. If we do not learn, who will? If our generation does not continue this legacy, who will pass it down to our children?” he said.
Dyneley said his experience in the world of traditional arts and dance had driven him to make arts and heritage one of the key focuses of the Manifesto Kaamatan 2026.
Dance, he added, is not merely a form of movement, but a way to understand who one is, one’s origins, and the heritage passed down by previous generations.
As such, participants will be given the opportunity to learn about and experience local cultural arts firsthand, so that the knowledge gained can be shared with others.
He further noted that the programme’s sustainability is being given due attention through efforts to build a network between youth, schools, artists, communities, and relevant cultural bodies.
He expressed hope that the connection between the older generation as custodians of knowledge and the younger generation as inheritors of heritage would be strengthened through this initiative.
