TAMBUNAN: Sept 12, 2026 – A 56-year-old woman was found dead, believed to have died from injuries caused by a sharp weapon, at a rented house in Kampung Katagayan, Tambunan, yesterday.
Keningau District Police Chief Superintendent Erwansyah Abdul Basir said police received a report regarding the incident at about 2pm, before preliminary investigations found the victim had injuries believed to be caused by a sharp weapon.
Following that, police tracked down a 31-year-old man who is the victim’s biological son.
The suspect was then successfully detained by villagers at a sulap in Kampung Sukung, Tambunan before being handed over to police at the Tambunan Police Station.
The official arrest of the suspect was made by the Criminal Investigation Department team of the Keningau District Police Headquarters (IPD) upon arrival at the station’s compound.
The investigation and forensic teams also conducted checks at the scene and seized several case items believed to be related to the incident.
The victim’s body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem to determine the actual cause of death.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, while further investigations are being carried out to identify the motive and full chronology of the incident.
Police also advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the case.
