Motorcyclist dies after collision with four-wheel-drive vehicle

SEMPORNA: Oct 2, 2026 – A man in his 60s died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Kilometre 22 of Jalan Semporna-Tawau yesterday.

Preliminary investigations found the accident occurred about 7am when a four-wheel-drive vehicle driven by a man in his 50s collided with a motorcycle that was emerging from a road junction.

The driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle was unhurt, while the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which provides for imprisonment of between five and 10 years and a fine of between RM20,000 and RM50,000 if convicted.

Members of the public with information on the incident are urged to come forward to assist investigations by contacting Semporna district police traffic investigating officer Inspector Hemkkumar A/L Ayathuray at 012-3650021, the Semporna Police Station at 089-782020, or any nearby police station.

Road users are also advised to drive cautiously and carefully to avoid untoward incidents.
