BEAUFORT: June 24, 2026 – A local man has been arrested by the Beaufort district police narcotics investigation unit during an operation along Jalan Melabau in Kampung Lupak.
Police said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspect was detained after officers found 6.02 grammes of methamphetamine, believed to be syabu, inside a sling bag he was carrying.
The suspect and the seized items were taken to the Beaufort district police narcotics office for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police said efforts to track down others involved in the sale or distribution of syabu in the Beaufort district were being stepped up, adding that firm action would be taken against those found to be engaged in such activities.
According to the statement, individuals identified as being involved in drug abuse would continue to be monitored and would face action under the law.
