TAMBUNAN: Aug 11, 2026 – The Rukun Tetangga Area (KRT) and Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Kapayan Lama organised a Jalur Gemilang hoisting programme last Aug 9 at the Kampung Kapayan Lama community hall to enliven the National Day 2026 celebration and foster patriotism among residents.
The programme, which began at 11am, featured a gotong-royong activity to install the Jalur Gemilang, a children’s colouring contest, and the construction of a Merdeka sculpture, in addition to an afternoon tea session with the residents.
Seeing the encouraging response with participation from residents of all ages, including children and adults, KRT chairman Junis Gilou said, “We want the National Day celebration to be more than just hoisting the flag; it should also strengthen ties and foster a spirit of cooperation among villagers.”
Meanwhile, JKKK chairman Nursyahidah Binti Abdullah said, “What is most heartening is the involvement of the children, as they too can understand and feel the spirit of the National Day celebration.”
She expressed hope that the younger generation would continue to appreciate the Jalur Gemilang, learn about the nation’s history, and uphold the spirit of unity.
