KOTA MARUDU: Oct 7, 2026 – A husband was sentenced to eight years’ jail by the Sessions Court here after he was found guilty of injuring his wife in an incident at Kampung Mangkupa, Jalan Popok, Kota Marudu, on June 25.
The accused, Kanasius Natun, 50, was found guilty of injuring his wife, Jorurus Masanting, on the morning of June 25, 2026, in front of an unnumbered house in Kampung Mangkupa, Jalan Popok, Kota Marudu.
The court imposed the eight-year jail sentence on Oct 5, 2026, to run from the date of conviction.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fadzri Azham Zainudin, while Judge Ferhanshah Farene Mohd Ferdaus handed down the sentence.
The offence under Section 326 of the Penal Code provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and a fine or whipping upon conviction.
Kota Marudu district police chief Supt Simiun Lomudin said enforcement will continue to be stepped up to ensure criminal offences are curbed while public safety and order are maintained.
He also urged the public to channel information on criminal activities to the police.
