PUTRAJAYA: July 31, 2026 – The government has approved 13,343 new additional posts at the Ministry of Health (KKM), strengthening the public healthcare system, supporting the operation of 256 new and upgraded health facilities, and reinforcing the implementation of the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (PuTERA35) through the strengthening of the Bumiputera Empowerment Unit (UPB) across all ministries.
The approval carries a financial implication of RM1.25 billion annually and represents one of two strategic measures announced by the government to improve public service delivery efficiency while supporting national development in line with the Malaysia MADANI aspirations.
Of the total approved posts, 7,218 fall under five key service schemes: 1,197 Medical Officers, 239 Dental Officers, 339 Pharmacy Officers, 3,471 Nurses, and 1,972 Assistant Medical Officers. The remaining 6,125 posts involve various other service schemes supporting higher-quality healthcare delivery for the public.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Department, the Public Services Department (JPA) has approved a total of 66,312 new posts for the Ministry of Health since 2019, further strengthening the national healthcare system’s capacity to meet growing public demand.
Meanwhile, the government is also strengthening the implementation of PuTERA35 by reinforcing the UPB in all ministries, based on General Circular No. 2 of 2025.
This move aims to streamline the coordination, monitoring and implementation of 132 PuTERA35 initiatives across all ministries and agencies, including rebranding the Bumiputera Agenda Empowerment Unit (UPAB) to UPB, and placing its supervision under the Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) or the Deputy Secretary-General overseeing policy and strategic planning in each ministry.
“Both strategic measures reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the public sector’s capacity as a driver of national development,” the statement said.
“Through strengthening the public healthcare system and more effective implementation of PuTERA35, the government will continue to ensure every policy translates into efficient, inclusive and high-impact service delivery for the well-being of the people and the nation’s prosperity.”
