PUTRAJAYA: Sept 22, 2026 – The National Registration Department (JPN) is working with relevant agencies and electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) service providers to update identity verification systems following the rollout of the new-generation MyKad from Sept 17, 2026.
The move comes after some new-generation MyKad holders faced difficulties completing identity verification via eKYC.
“eKYC service providers are updating their respective systems to allow the design and features of the new-generation MyKad to be recognised during the verification process,” JPN said.
JPN said it was providing the necessary information and monitoring the implementation of the updates to speed up system adaptation.
Users facing problems are advised to refer to the relevant institution or service provider on alternative verification methods while the updates are completed.
The new-generation MyKad improves the structure, design, technology and security features to enhance the protection of citizens’ identity.
“JPN will continue to monitor the progress of the update process and work with other agencies and related service providers until the system adjustments are completed,” it said.
