TAWAU: Sept 16, 2026 – Police detained two local men and seized a total of 0.37 grams of syabu in two raids under Op Tapis around Kampung Kurnia Jaya, Batu 4, Tawau, last Tuesday.
Tawau district police chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the first raid led to the arrest of a man aged about 27 who was behaving suspiciously in the area.
He said a check found the suspect producing a transparent plastic packet containing clear crystalline substance suspected to be syabu weighing 0.17 grams from his trouser pocket.
In the second raid, police arrested another local man aged about 19 at an unnumbered house in Kampung Kurnia Jaya, Batu 4.
The suspect then showed two transparent plastic packets containing clear crystalline substance suspected to be syabu weighing 0.20 grams found on the floor of the house.
Both suspects and the case items were taken to the police station for further investigation.
Initial urine screening tests on both suspects also tested positive for Amphetamine (AMP) and Methamphetamine (METH).
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Tawau District Police emphasised its commitment to continue intensifying operations and intelligence to combat drug abuse and trafficking activities in the district.
The public is also urged to channel information to the police if they know of any drug-related activities to help efforts to curb the problem.
