KOTA KINABALU: August 18, 2026 – The RM125 million Sabah Heart Centre is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of 2029.
Health Minister Datuk Dzulkefly Ahmad said construction is targeted to commence in the third quarter of 2027 and is expected to take approximately 24 months.
“We hope it can begin operations by the third quarter of 2029,” he told reporters after the Sabah Health Development Joint Action Committee Meeting Number 1 of 2026 here on Monday.
The project, under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) 2026, is currently in the early implementation stage.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is carrying out the procurement process for material testing, which is expected to be completed this month, before the Value Management Lab is implemented in the first quarter of 2027.
The Sabah Heart Centre is among seven new projects out of 53 health projects involving an allocation of RM1.57 billion to Sabah under RMK-13 RP1 2026.
