KENINGAU: August 10, 2026 – Keningau Vocational College (KV Keningau) brought home seven awards – including one gold, two silver, three bronze and one diploma – from the Borneo Culinary World Cup held in Kuching, Sarawak, from August 5 to 7, 2026.
The achievement was secured by six students and one teacher from the Culinary Arts, Bakery and Pastry programmes across five competition categories.
In the fruit and vegetable carving category, Nur Haziqah Mairah binti Ah Yuk@Awang clinched gold, while Lovelina Lim and Ryan Yop won silver and a diploma respectively.
Three bronze medals were contributed by Bakery and Pastry students – Muhammad Aqil Adwa Khnin in the pizza challenge, Nurul Fitriyani Izwani Abdul Mutalip in the free-style wedding cake category, and Hirday Yasin in the flora and fauna-themed cake category.
Meanwhile, Culinary Arts teacher Saumon Maliki secured silver in the Borneo free-style noodle challenge.
KV Keningau director Lumang anak Lang said the success underscored the importance of skills-based education.
“This achievement proves how vital skills-based education is and the relevance of vocational college education in producing skilled students,” he said.
The Borneo Culinary World Cup, organised by the Malaysia Bersatu Culinary Association (MBCA) in collaboration with relevant agencies, brought together approximately 600 participants from 40 countries competing in about 35 categories.
