PENAMPANG: August 10, 2026 — Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) must be strengthened to ensure the nation’s workforce remains relevant amid rapid technological advancements and evolving industry demands, said Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mordi Anak Bimol.
He made these remarks during the 18th Convocation Ceremony of the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) Kinarut, held here on Saturday.
According to Mordi, the rapid development of technology, artificial intelligence, automation, and innovation is reshaping the employment landscape, requiring a workforce capable of mastering new technologies.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is reinforcing TVET 2.0 through close collaboration with industry players. To date, KBS has established 180 partnerships, including active Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with strategic industry partners.
“This collaboration serves as a catalyst for quality, industry-oriented training and enhances the employability of ILKBS graduates,” he added.
IKBN Kinarut continues to produce highly skilled TVET talent to meet the nation’s economic needs.
A total of 153 graduates from seven skill fields were celebrated, including Domestic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Geomatics and Land Surveying, Electrical Wiring, Electrical Machinery Maintenance, and Architectural Drafting.
Also present at the ceremony were KBS Deputy Secretary-General (Strategic), Chan Chong Jin; KBS Skills Director, Mohd Shukri Ismail; and IKBN Kinarut Director, Zuarini Ismail.
