KOTA KINABALU: 15 June 2026 – A total of 15 participants were commissioned as Train the Trainers (TTT) for the Sabah Gender Focal Points Cohort 3 at the Gender Leadership Aspiration and Commissioning Ceremony, held at The Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel last Friday.
The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of the Sabah Ministry of Women, Health and Community Wellbeing, Datuk Julita Majungki.
In her speech, she emphasised that the commissioning was not an end point, but rather the beginning of a greater trust and responsibility as agents of change in fostering a gender-responsive mindset within their respective workplaces.
“I hope that the knowledge, skills and experience gained throughout the training will be fully utilised to strengthen organisational capacity, enhance service delivery effectiveness, and contribute to the development of more inclusive and high-impact policies,” she said.
She stated that the Sabah Government, through her ministry, remains committed to ensuring that the principles of gender equality are tangibly translated into the implementation of policies, programmes and public services, in line with the aspirations of Sabah Maju Jaya (Progressive Sabah) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5: Gender Equality.
Datuk Julita also stressed that gender mainstreaming would not succeed if shouldered by only one ministry or agency alone; instead, it requires a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach.
“The Sabah Gender Focal Points programme is a strategic initiative aimed at producing a cadre of competent, authoritative and knowledgeable officers in integrating gender perspectives into the planning and implementation of organisational policies,” she said.
She congratulated all Cohort 3 participants who received their commissions that evening, and then officially opened the ceremony under the theme “Empowering Gender, Driving Leadership, Building the Future.”
