TUARAN: August 8, 2026 – The Sabah Marine Police Region 4 and the Tuaran IPD Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) seized 11.45 tonnes of ketum powder worth approximately RM1.145 million during a raid along Jalan Tuaran early yesterday.
Four individuals – three men aged between 23 and 46, and a 28-year-old woman – were detained at the premises and a lorry was also impounded.
Intelligence revealed that the processed ketum leaves had been packaged for distribution. The total value of the seizure, including the vehicle, is estimated at over RM1.4 million. All suspects tested negative for drugs during screening.
The case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952. Further investigations are being carried out with JSJN Sabah to identify the syndicate network and curb the abuse of ketum in its various forms.
Sabah Marine Police Region 4 reiterated its commitment to strengthening intelligence-gathering and strategic cooperation with enforcement agencies to combat illegal activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
