KOTA KINABALU: Oct 10, 2026 – A total of 1,099 National Information Dissemination Centres (NADI) have been established nationwide to raise digital literacy and empower the people’s economy through various entrepreneurship and digital skills programmes.

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said NADI plays a role in producing a society with high digital literacy and opening up opportunities for the people to venture into entrepreneurship.

At the launch of NADI Inanam Sentral last Thursday, he said the centre brought the total number of NADI in Sabah to 132, including 14 new ones.

He said the number of entrepreneurs nurtured, educated and developed through the NADI Entrepreneurship Programme has now reached 12,000 people compared with 545 in 2022.

Fahmi said NADI’s benefits were being expanded through the NADI On Wheels programme to nearby schools and villages to ensure the community has access to various government initiatives.

NADI is also implementing the “1 NADI 1 Prompt Engineer” programme to enhance community skills in the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

He said 1,247 participants, including 509 from Sabah, joined the first group of the programme. About 50 per cent completed all three skill levels.

The ministry and MCMC aim to produce 1,099 prompt engineers, one at each NADI, by the end of this year.

Also present were Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud; MCMC Head of Affairs Bukhari Yahya; Maxis Berhad Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Azizul Abdul Rahman; and NADI Sepanggar Advisory Panel chairman Nurfitrie Suimin.
