KOTA KINABALU: Sept 21, 2026 – Veteran Sabah politician Datuk Haji Yahya Lampong passed away at about 6am today at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital (KPJ), Ampang.
The matter was announced by his son, Masley Yahya, who also appealed to the public to continue praying for the deceased.
“With a heavy heart, I would like to inform that my beloved father, Datuk Haji Yahya Lampong, passed away at about 6am today at Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital (KPJ),” said Masley Yahya.
The remains are now at Masjid Nurul Islam, Ampang to be bathed and prepared before the funeral prayer is performed.
The remains are expected to be buried after Zohor prayers today.
The deceased had served as Kota Belud Member of Parliament and Tempasuk State Assemblyman, as well as Deputy Minister of Rural Development at the federal level.
In addition, he had also led the SEDCO Group as Chairman, and had experience in state economic and corporate development.
His services and contributions throughout his service to the people, Sabah and the country will always be remembered.
His passing also received condolences from various parties.
