TONGOD: July 8, 2026 – Police have arrested two men, including an Indonesian national, and seized 37.33 grams of suspected methamphetamine valued at approximately RM4,100 in an operation conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Beluran District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Kampung Napagang, Tongod.
In the operation, the first suspect was identified as a 21‑year‑old Indonesian man of Bugis descent who did not possess any valid identification documents. Police confiscated 31.42 grams of methamphetamine, estimated to be worth around RM3,500, from him.
Also detained was a 35‑year‑old local man of Kadazan descent, after police discovered 5.91 grams of methamphetamine valued at an estimated RM600.
Beluran District Police Chief, Superintendent Hasan Majid, said both suspects, along with the seized items, have been taken to the Beluran District Police Headquarters for further action and investigation.
He stated that the first suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while the second suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the same Act.
He added that the police will continue to intensify efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking activities, with the cooperation of the local community.
