KENINGAU: For most students, a 4.0 CGPA in STPM is but a dream. For Christello Dominic, from Kampung Delayan Lama in Sook, however, it was no accident.

“I have always held to the principle that success does not come by chance, but rather requires effort, discipline and patience. I believe that every sincere effort will eventually bear fruit,” he said.

Christello admitted that the biggest challenge throughout his Form Six years was managing his time.

“The most challenging moments for me were when I had to complete various assignments, attend classes and revise for examinations all at the same time. Yet I constantly reminded myself that every challenge faced is part of the journey towards success,” he said.

To cope with the pressure, he drew up a structured study schedule. After school sessions, he would take a short rest before revising. Evenings were set aside for practice, while weekends were fully utilised to strengthen weaker topics.

Despite his determination, Christello never forgot the role his family played. His parents constantly offered encouragement, advice, and ensured he had a conducive learning environment.

“The first people who come to mind are my parents, because they are the ones who have sacrificed so much and have always supported me throughout my studies,” he said.

He added that witnessing his parents’ dedication motivated him to keep striving and to repay all the sacrifices they had made over the years.

Every student has a most challenging subject. For Christello, it was General Studies – a subject requiring deep understanding and wide reading.

“In the early stages, I struggled to grasp certain topics. So I took the initiative to revise consistently, to discuss with teachers and friends, and to do plenty of practice using past-year questions,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation for his teachers, who were always ready to help and never tired of offering advice and words of encouragement.

For Christello, the 4.0 CGPA was not the only thing he gained. His two years in Form Six taught him discipline, patience and self-confidence.

“I also realised that success is not something that comes easily, but requires sacrifice and the support of those around you,” he said.

Though he has already excelled, Christello regards this achievement as just the beginning. He now intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree and to continue deepening his knowledge in his chosen field.

He hopes his story will inspire other students who are chasing their dreams.

“Do not give up easily. Success does not necessarily depend on intelligence alone, but rather on consistent effort and a genuine determination to keep learning. Do not forget to appreciate your parents’ sacrifices, respect your teachers, and always strive to improve yourself,” he said.
