TAMBUNAN: June 27, 2026 – SMK Tambunan has received a donation of seven 65-inch smart televisions aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, particularly for its Form Six students.

The contribution was handed over on Friday by the Deputy Chairman of Sawit Kinabalu and Borneo Samudera Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Victor Peter Paut.

According to Paut, the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure students in this rural district remain competitive, in line with developments within the modern education system.

“We want to see the Tambunan district continue to flourish in education, to produce outstanding students for the future,” Paut said in a statement following the handover ceremony.

“Although it is located away from the major cities, Tambunan remains one of the great districts in education and is capable of further bridging the gap with the best schools across Sabah.”

He stressed that quality education does not depend solely on any single factor, but rather emerges from a combination of the commitment of teaching staff, the availability of up-to-date teaching aids, and a supportive environment conducive to students’ mental and physical well-being.

“All of these elements are interconnected. We will do our utmost to continue helping the school, the teachers and the students in Tambunan achieve the highest and best results in the future,” he added.

The donated smart TVs are targeted primarily for Form Six students and are viewed as modern teaching aids capable of making learning sessions more interactive and sustaining student motivation.

Paut also highlighted the importance of recognising academic excellence as a key yardstick for a school’s quality. According to him, the moment students step onto the stage to receive accolades is a historic and deeply meaningful event that evokes pride – not only for the school and its teachers, but also for parents and the wider community in the district.

“It is not just the schools and teachers who will feel proud, but also the parents and all the people in this district,” he said.

The donation has been received with great enthusiasm by the school, which described it as a fresh impetus in its efforts to produce competitive and high-achieving students for the future.
