KOTA KINABALU: July 21, 2026 – Sabah’s State Sales Tax (CJN) collection from major sectors has reached RM1.387 billion as of 30 June this year, with petroleum and crude palm oil continuing to be the largest contributors to the state’s revenue.
The highest collection came from crude palm oil, including palm oil biomass, which amounted to RM703.55 million, followed by petroleum products at RM679.45 million and fisheries commodities at RM4.22 million.
The total State Sales Tax collection for the major sectors up to 30 June 2026 stands at RM1.387 billion.
This was stated in a written reply by Assistant Minister of Finance I, Datuk Chong Chen Bin @ Ben Chong, in response to a question from Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin (Moyog) during today’s sitting of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.
He said that petroleum and crude palm oil remain the largest contributors to the State Sales Tax collection, thereby boosting state revenue, while fisheries commodities also contribute, albeit on a smaller scale.
The collection reflects the ongoing contribution of Sabah’s key commodity sectors to state revenue, with petroleum and palm oil staying as the primary drivers of State Sales Tax revenue.
According to Ben Chong, the forestry sector is currently not subject to the State Sales Tax.
