Sabah Education Department takes swift action after student fall incident

KOTA KINABALU: July 19, 2026 – The Sabah State Education Department (JPN Sabah) has taken immediate action following an incident in which a student was reported to have fallen at a school in Papar recently.

In an official statement issued on Friday, the department said its preliminary investigation found that the incident did not involve any criminal element or bullying.

The victim has been examined and treated at hospital, and the medical report has confirmed that the student did not sustain serious injuries and is in a stable condition.

The school acted swiftly by providing initial first aid to the victim before notifying the family. Police were also contacted to secure the area and prevent panic among the school community.

JPN Sabah stressed that the welfare, safety and emotional well-being of the victim continue to be given attention through ongoing monitoring. Psychosocial and emotional support has also been extended to the victim and affected members of the school community.

The department gave its assurance that it would extend full cooperation to the authorities in the ongoing investigation.

Members of the public have been advised not to circulate unverified information regarding the incident, in order to avoid any disruption to the investigation process and to protect the well-being of the victim, the family and the entire school community.
