KOTA KINABALU: Oct 9, 2026 – The Sabah Arts and Creativity Talent Association (PBSKS) held the Sabah Creative Cultural Carnival 2026 on October 3 and 4 at the Exhibition Hall, Karamunsing Complex.
The two-day carnival carried the theme “Our Culture, Creativity for the Future” it aimed to provide a platform for creative expression and promote local cultural identity among young people.
PBSKS Chairperson and Carnival Organising Chairperson Noorjana Rikun said the carnival brought together talents from the arts, culture, creative industry, fashion, beauty and local business communities.
“We want to introduce and promote Sabah’s unique heritage so that young people have the opportunity to showcase their abilities, build confidence and explore opportunities in the creative industry.
“The programme also promotes Sabah as a cultural and tourism destination while giving local vendors the opportunity to introduce their products,” she said.
The carnival ran from 9am to 10pm and featured various competitions combining traditional and modern arts.

On the first day, activities began with a Colouring Contest, followed by the Sipak Manggis Competition and the Most Beautiful Penjaram Competition, which highlighted local heritage.
The evening continued with The Supertalented Catwalk Borneo 2026 fashion show, which offered total prizes worth up to RM9,000.

The second day focused on the local beauty industry through the Women Empowerment Workshop and the Bridal Makeup Competition 2026, which offered prizes worth RM5,000.
These activities were followed by the PBSKS Ethnic and Cultural Queen Competition 2026, which offered total prizes worth RM6,000.
The carnival’s main highlight was the Original Soundtrack (OST) Song Competition, organised by Gabungan Kreatif Sabah, with an estimated budget of RM10,000.
The competition saw local songwriters compete for a place among the 10 best local entries selected to advance to the final stage next December.

The large-scale programme also received strong support from government agencies and private companies, including the Sabah Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment, Yayasan Sabah, Fristella, Beauty Wonderland, Dong Sin and Tinah Carine.
Speaking about the programme’s impact, Noorjana expressed her gratitude that PBSKS had successfully achieved all its main objectives and targets.
The carnival also had a positive economic impact, with 17 local vendors taking part. Some businesses achieved sales of up to RM15,000 over the two days, while total sales among all vendors were estimated to have reached more than RM50,000.
“The true success of PBSKS is not measured only by the number of visitors, but also by how many talented people get opportunities and how many business connections are formed.
“We hope that artists and creative talents will not stop after taking part in just one programme. Keep creating and use every opportunity to showcase your talents,” Noorjana added.
Moving forward, PBSKS plans to organise more talent development programmes, training sessions and workshops. The association also aims to expand strategic partnerships to bring Sabah’s creative industry to the national and international levels.
