KOTA KINABALU: Oct 30, 2026 — Residents’ concerns over a series of armed robberies and house break-ins around the state capital have finally been laid to rest after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sabah crushed the criminal gang involved with the arrest of six suspects.
According to Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jau Teh Bin Dikun, the suspects, aged between 30 and 43, have 75 criminal records involving criminal and drug offences.
He said a special task force was formed in September 2026 following two armed robbery cases in Kota Kinabalu in August.
“The gang targeted unoccupied luxury residential homes and used sharp weapons to intimidate their victims,” he said in a statement from the Sabah Contingent Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) today.
Investigations found that the gang was involved in 17 armed robbery, house break-in and theft cases across several districts in Sabah between January and August 2026. Victims suffered losses amounting to RM304,500.
Police also seized various items, including luxury watches, branded handbags, electronic devices, a car, fishing equipment and a safe.
The investigation papers have been completed and submitted to the Sabah State Prosecution Director’s Office.
All suspects were brought to the Kota Kinabalu Magistrate’s Court yesterday for charges under various sections of the Penal Code and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
PDRM is committed to taking continuous action against any individuals involved in crime to ensure public safety. The public is urged to channel information to assist the authorities in eradicating criminal activities.
