KUDAT: Oct 17, 2026 — Government assistance felt in daily life continued to draw the attention of Kudat residents through the Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat Programme, which also featured the Jom Malaysia Carnival, Jualan Rahmah MADANI and Mobile Community Services under the N.4 Tanjong Kapor state constituency edition, held in conjunction with the Sabah Chief Minister’s visit the day before.

Sabah Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ben Chong Chen Bin said that with the cost of living remaining a key concern, the Jualan Rahmah MADANI initiative is crucial in helping the people obtain daily necessities at lower prices.

“Through the Happy Hour Jualan Rahmah offer, flour is sold at just one ringgit per kilogramme, while sardines are sold at 20 sen,” said the Tanjung Kapur assemblyman in his speech at the programme.

He said every saving means a great deal to each family and the initiative helps ease the burden of low-income earners, senior citizens, parents with many dependants and small traders.

He said the Mobile Community Services make it easier for the people to access various government facilities and services without having to travel far to Kota Kinabalu.

“Tonight, the Sabah Chief Minister himself will present land grants to the people in the N.4 Tanjong Kapor area,” he said.

He said the handing over of land grants is highly meaningful to those who have waited for years, with some waiting across generations, for recognition of their rights to their land.

Under the GRS Government’s leadership, he said, five villages in Kudat have been gazetted and obtained valid village land grants, namely Kampung Dampirit, Kampung Marang Parang, Kampung Loro Kecil, Kampung Simpang Mengayau and Kampung Labuan Sama.

The good news is that the Sabah Forestry Department is now actively carrying out re-surveying of its land boundaries in Kudat at the request and attention of the Chief Minister.

The effort aims to open up space for village residents who have long settled in forest reserve areas to submit land applications legally, subject to the process and approval of the relevant authorities.

“For the information of the Chief Minister, today the people of Kudat are very happy because there is a counter for record searches and claims of unclaimed money. Many only found out today that there were sums of unclaimed money they had not known about all this while. I was told some amounted to RM22,000 … RM34,000 in unclaimed cash,” he said.

He also expressed his highest appreciation to the Sabah Chief Minister, Datuk Armizan, all department heads and Federal and State Government agencies, personnel, volunteers and the entire community who made the programme a success.
