BEAUFORT: Aug 10, 2026 – The 2026 Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) convoy fostered closer ties between the industry community and government agencies through a Jalur Gemilang-themed cupcake decorating activity held at Haidah Sweet Bakery here on Saturday.

The activity also served as a platform for local industry involvement in enlivening the National Month and Sabah Day celebrations through a casual and creative approach.

Haidah Sweet Bakery owner Norhaidah Mat Li said the participation of the industry community in such national programmes helps bring local entrepreneurs and workers closer to the spirit of independence celebrations.

“When we involve small traders and local industries, we indirectly help them feel more connected to the independence celebrations. This is not just about sales, but about the spirit and pride of being Malaysians,” she told the media after the Jalur Gemilang cupcake decorating activity held in conjunction with the KMJG 2026 convoy.

Norhaidah expressed hope that similar programmes would be continued and expanded to encourage more business premises to promote industry community participation in national-level celebrations.

The programme also saw the handover of Jalur Gemilang Kits by Sabah Information Director Jainisah Mohd Noor to Haidah Sweet Bakery in support of the 1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign at the industry cluster level.

Also taking part in the activity were representatives from the Sabah Information Department, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, PERKESO, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), FINAS, the Malaysian Prisons Department, and the Sabah Rubber Industry Board.
