KOTA KINABALU: July 30, 2026 – International Christian worship band Hillsong Worship is set to make history with their debut performance in Kota Kinabalu as part of the Hillsong Worship Nights Asia Tour 2026.
The concert will take place on 13 September at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC). It is part of a larger Asian tour which includes a stop in Kuala Lumpur on 9 September, followed by Surabaya, Singapore, Cebu and Manila.
The Kota Kinabalu performance is expected to be a landmark moment for fans in East Malaysia, more than three decades after Hillsong Worship began producing worship songs sung in churches worldwide.
According to the band, their performances are not merely concerts but platforms to unite communities through music and messages of hope.
“We do not gather just to sing songs. We gather to create a space where hearts break open, hope is restored, and thousands of distinct stories bleed into one regular voice,” Hillsong Worship said in a statement.
Founded in Sydney, Australia, Hillsong Worship is regarded as one of the most influential worship music groups globally. They are known for iconic songs including Shout to the Lord, Mighty to Save, Hosanna, and the Grammy Award-winning What a Beautiful Name.
Their scripture-based songs, delivered through contemporary melodies, have been translated into multiple languages and are sung in thousands of churches around the world.
The Kota Kinabalu concert is expected to draw visitors from Brunei, Indonesia, the southern Philippines and Sarawak, given Sabah’s strategic position as a regional transport hub.
In addition to popular hits, the performance will combine international-standard visual production with more intimate acoustic segments to offer a meaningful worship experience.
Commenting on the atmosphere they aim to create, Hillsong Worship said the most significant moment lies not in the stage production itself, but in the sense of togetherness fostered through music.
“When the music strips away, you are left with thousands of strangers singing the same words, feeling the exact same pulse of hope,” the band said.
