TAWAU: August 13, 2026 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) Tawau branch seized five liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders valued at RM533, found to be possessed without a permit or written authorisation, during an inspection under Ops Tiris 4.0 around the Old CIQ Jetty area in Tawau today.
The operation, conducted at 10.54 am, was carried out by a team of KPDN Tawau enforcement officers following intelligence information.
Checks at the location uncovered five units of MyGaz-branded LPG cylinders.
However, the inspection team failed to produce any permit or written authorisation from the Controller of Supplies for possession of the controlled items.
Consequently, a case has been initiated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 [Act 122], while all seized exhibits have been confiscated for further investigation.
If convicted, offenders face a fine not exceeding RM1 million or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, for a first offence. Subsequent offences carry a fine of up to RM3 million or imprisonment of up to five years, or both.
KPDN Tawau reaffirmed its commitment to intensify monitoring and enforcement to ensure compliance with legal provisions, particularly those related to the control of goods.
