KOTA KINABALU: July 11, 2026 – The United Sabah Taekwondo Association (UTSA) elected Dr. Bonaventure Boniface as its new President during its Annual General Meeting and leadership election today.
In his acceptance speech, he expressed his appreciation to all members and delegates for the trust placed in him, while also acknowledging the contributions of the previous leadership.
“Their efforts have built a strong foundation for us to continue the struggle of elevating Sabah Taekwondo to a higher level. Their contributions will always be remembered and appreciated,” he said.
He also thanked Grand Master Dhanaraj Rassiah, the National Technical Director of Malaysia Taekwondo, who was present to observe the meeting.
Dr Bonaventure introduced five main missions of the new administration, namely to digitalise the association’s governance, provide high-quality infrastructure and training facilities, foster leadership with integrity and professional governance, develop quality, disciplined and competitive athletes, as well as strengthen administration and communication between the association and its affiliated clubs.
He emphasised cooperation from all parties, stating: “Success can only be achieved through a spirit of togetherness. Let us unite, set aside differences, and move forward as one family to elevate Sabah Taekwondo.”
The new leadership line-up: GM Raman Anthony (Deputy President), Arfahzanshah Hj. Marlan, Mohd. Iskandar Syah Shamsuddin and Mujayal Ebno (Vice Presidents), Siti Norma (Secretary-General), Wong Yew Sing (Treasurer-General), and GM Barry Voon Yuk Choi (Chairman of the Technical Committee). Executive Committee members: Ervin Ambu, Nandabalan A/L Husin, Sajdi Jupin, Rusfredy Tokan Petrus and Chao Yew Ming.
With the slogan “One Vision, One Team, One Champion,” the new UTSA leadership is committed to strengthening Sabah Taekwondo through modern and transparent administration that focuses on athlete development and sporting excellence at all levels.
