KOTA KINABALU: July 25, 2026 – Datuk Jifrin Hj Mohamad, 57, has been appointed as the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry (MAFFI), effective immediately.
He previously served as Director of the Department of Agriculture under MAFFI. During his tenure as director, he was actively involved in various initiatives to advance the state’s agricultural sector, including programmes for the development of idle land and agricultural incubator projects designed to train new agri-preneurs.
In a concurrent appointment, Datuk Jumain Abdul Ghani will assume his duties as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (KKTP) on 27 July 2026. He previously served as Director of the Sabah State Department of Islamic Religious Affairs (JHEAINS).
Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, congratulated both senior officials and expressed confidence in their ability to carry out the trust and responsibilities placed upon them in the interest of the people and the state’s development.
“I wish them well in discharging their duties and responsibilities to the people of Sabah as a whole,” said Jamawi.
He also expressed his hope that both permanent secretaries would perform their roles with full dedication, integrity and commitment, in order to strengthen government service delivery and drive the state’s development for the well-being of all Sabahans.
