KUDAT: Oct 19, 2026 – Students have been urged never to try smoking or other harmful substances merely to satisfy their curiosity.
Sabah Minister of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing Datuk Julita Majungki said this when officiating the Resilient Students Programme themed “Choose Wisely, Reject Firmly” at SMK Sikuati on 16 October.
At the programme jointly organised by Sabah AADK, Kudat AADK and the school in conjunction with the People’s Affection Programme and the Jom Malaysia Carnival, she stressed that such actions could bring long-term adverse effects on their health, education and future.
She said young people need to understand the risks of trying harmful substances and have the courage to reject peer pressure that encourages unhealthy habits.
“Sometimes something may seem harmless when we try it for the first time, but we should not take lightly matters that can affect our health, education and future.
Julita reminded that one wrong decision can affect your future, but wise choices can open the path to success.
“Value yourself, love your family and strive to build a future you can be proud of,” she said.
