KOTA KINABALU: Oct, 3 2026 – The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) in Sabah detained 82 illegal immigrants (PATI) in 12 enforcement operations across several districts in the state from Sept 26 to Oct 1.
The operations in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Keningau involved checks on 288 individuals, they were aimed at curbing the presence of illegal immigrants and the abuse of immigration facilities.
The arrests comprised 43 Filipinos — 21 adult men, 14 adult women, three boys and five girls.
Also detained were 15 Indonesians — 11 adult men, three adult women and a girl — and 24 Pakistani adult men.
JIM Sabah said enforcement operations will continue to be intensified at strategic locations throughout the districts to ensure compliance with immigration laws.
The public is reminded not to harbour, employ or assist foreigners who violate the law, information on illegal immigrant activities can be channelled through SISPAA or the JIM Online Inquiry System (SPO).
