TAWAU: 30 September 2026 – A Perodua Myvi crashed into a business premises before ramming a Toyota Innova parked at the parking area of Lorong Bintang Shophouse 8, Batu 3, Jalan Apas, Tawau, yesterday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said preliminary investigations found that the Myvi driver, a 60-year-old local man, is believed to have accidentally stepped on the accelerator while trying to exit a parking bay after receiving treatment at a nearby clinic.
The vehicle then surged forward and hit the business premises. In a panic, the driver attempted to reverse the vehicle before ramming the nearby Toyota Innova.
Both vehicles were badly damaged, but the Myvi driver was unhurt.
An initial urine screening test on the driver came back negative for drugs. A breathalyser test was also conducted at the Tawau District Police Headquarters Traffic Office.
The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
